Aging and the Arts Series: Composers Growing Older with Rob Radmer and Andrea Gore

Presented by TALC, an hour of music and conversation about how composers’ music evolved with the passage of time, and how their brains – and the brains of listeners – change with aging.
Thursday January 14, 2021 • Zoom
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Please join us for an hour of music and conversation about how composers’ music evolved with the passage of time, and how their brains – and the brains of listeners – change with aging.
Dr. Robert Radmer, violist and music director of the Balcones Community Orchestra and the Central Texas Medical Orchestra, will use the music of Haydn and John Lennon to illustrate musical maturation through life. Dr. Andrea Gore, neuroscientist at UT-Austin, will discuss the neurobiology of aging, how music influences the brain, and the importance of music in both healthy aging and dementia, through Ravel’s Bolero. Join us as Dr. Karen Fingerman, director of UT-Austin’s Texas Aging and Longevity Center moderates a lively discussion in this first Aging and the Arts Series. Zoom invite attached.
